Abstract

Healthcare access in Latin America and elsewhere varies significantly based on location and socio-economic differences. Our Storymap and analysis of healthcare access in Peru show lack of accessibility using different methodologies for different ethnic and racial minorities. We found significant inequalities, particularly in rural and remote areas like the Amazon, where access is limited due to poor infrastructure and long travel distances for native communities. Addressing these regional disparities, associated to racial and ethnic inequities, is critical to promoting a just healthcare access across Peru and similar Latin American countries.
