Abstract
The neo-figurative painting “The Mother of Aguaje” is a work that pays tribute to the permanently flooded swampy areas where the aguaje palm thrives. The painting uses vibrant colors, ranging from the lush green of the vegetation to orange, blue, violet, and yellow, that stand out in the landscape. At the center of the composition is the mother aguaje palm. Around her, the painting comes to life with various animals characteristic of aguajales, such as jaguars, snakes, various birds, and wild hogs. This work is a tribute to the importance of aguaje in the Amazon, highlighting its versatility and multiple uses in the lives of local communities, from food to construction and craftsmanship.
