Abstract
Segundo Candiño recreates La Casa de Fierro, also known as the Eiffel House, using recycled materials, transforming this architectural icon of Iquitos into a work of critical memory. The original Iron House, prefabricated in iron and erected in 1890 during the rubber boom, symbolizes the impact of extractivism and foreign intervention in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. By reinterpreting it with artisanal techniques and everyday materials, Candiño re-values Amazonian cultural heritage and highlights the tension between imposed modernity and local knowledge. This scale model illuminates how territory is not only inhabited, but also remembered, resisted, and reimagined.
