Abstract
This painting relates to territory and cultural heritage by celebrating the deep connection between Indigenous ritual, landscape, and collective memory in the Peruvian Amazon. Set against a dense and vibrant jungle backdrop, the scene depicts a ceremonial gathering where figures—some with animal features—engage in music, dance, and communal offerings. The patterned clothing and geometric designs echo traditional body art and ceramics, serving as visual archives of ancestral knowledge. The gathering takes place on cleared land, yet the forest encircles the space, grounding the ceremony in the continuity of territory. By portraying a world where the environment, spirituality, and community are inseparable, the work resists colonial framings of the Amazon as empty or wild. Instead, it affirms the forest as a lived and sacred space—one that holds histories, kinship networks, and ritual practices passed down through generations. This painting thus becomes an act of cultural preservation, affirming Indigenous territorial presence through both form and content.
