Abstract
The ceramic figure incorporates visual and cultural elements from the Shipibo Konibo community, thus representing its rich cultural heritage and deep connection to the Amazonian territory. The designs and symbols present in the figure can carry specific meanings and narratives that are inherently linked to the history and worldview of this community.
This is a ceramic figure that incorporates visual and cultural references from the Shipibo Konibo community to which the artist belongs. The figure takes the form of a mushroom, with its cap adorned with patterns that resemble the scales of fungi. Emerging from the cap are four creatures resembling fish or snakes, with fangs and tongues outstretched, pointing in the four cardinal directions: south, north, east, and west. From the mushroom’s stem, four branches sprout to support it, giving it an animal-like quality. Together, this representation forms a magical being of the Amazon jungle.
