Abstract
Names Unknown Gay and Transgender People | Murdered | 1980s The giant Lupuna Blanca tree in Parque La Lupuna can be seen from miles away. There, at its base, the communist militant group Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) would pile the bodies of gay and transgender people who had fallen victim to their mission of “social cleansing.” Reports also suggested Sendero Luminoso’s use of smaller surrounding trees to hang victims.
