Abstract
Drawing from a personal poem, Mabel invokes the figure of The Martyr, a goddess who presides over the dance floor each time she performs a DJ set. The performance becomes a ritual act, summoning this presence through poems, songs, and texts of trans, travesti, and mostra feminities from the past. These materials are reinterpreted as sung readings layered over electronic music, creating a hybrid form between poetry, sound, and invocation. Positioned at the crossroads of nightlife and sacredness, the work stages the party as a site of collective memory and transformation. The Martyr emerges not only as an object of devotion, but as a channel through which marginalized voices resonate, reimagining festivity as a sacred travesti ritual.
Based on a personal poem, Mabel sets out to delve into the figure of THE MARTYR, a goddess she invokes on the dance floor each time she performs a DJ set. This martyr is summoned through poems, songs, and texts by different Argentine trans/travesti/mostra feminities of the past, performed as sung readings over electronic music. A travesti ritual of encounter with the sacred party.
